Premier South Dakota Pheasant Hunting

Established in 2023, Sportsman’s Outpost is rapidly earning its reputation as a premier pheasant hunting lodge in eastern South Dakota. While the name and location are new, our foundation is built on decades of proven experience. Our sister lodge is backed by more than 20 years of South Dakota pheasant hunting and operates at full capacity year after year. Sportsman’s Outpost was created to meet the growing demand for the same exceptional hunting experience.

We manage over 10,000 acres of prime pheasant habitat, carefully maintained to deliver a consistently world-class hunt—not only for today’s guests, but for seasons to come. Our 7,500-square-foot lodge has been fully revitalized into a retreat designed for comfort, relaxation, and camaraderie.

After a successful day in the field, unwind around the fire pit, raise a glass at our onsite bar, or take the short stroll—just 57 steps—to the local watering hole. Inside the lodge, enjoy a game of pool, watch the big game, or challenge your group to a round of Big Buck Hunter.

Each of our 10 individually climate-controlled guest suites features premium mattresses, high-quality bedding, and a private bathroom to ensure every stay is as comfortable as it is memorable.

At Sportsman’s Outpost, pheasant hunting is more than a trip—it’s an elevated experience. We look forward to welcoming you and delivering a hunt you won’t soon forget.

What is a Typical Day of Pheasant Hunting with Sportsman's Outpost?

Pheasant

Our pheasant hunts start as early as 10am. We hunt until we limit, we’re tired, or it’s 4pm.

We have our own chef, Todd, who is loved by the hunters. You will be talking about his meals weeks after your hunt is over.

Breakfast is served around 8am. Usually Eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, Eggs Benedict, or Biscuits and Gravy. Have a preference? Todd can probably make it.

After breakfast, we will load the bus and head to our spot. Some days up to 60 miles away from Ramona. Most days, we pack a hot lunch to go. If we hunt close to the lodge, we will come back to eat.

After the pheasant hunt, we can stop at some local establishments for a cold beverage, if preferred. Our bus is always packed with a cooler of water, pop, and beer. Beer is only consumed after the hunt 😊.

Appetizers will be ready by 6pm and supper around 7. Appetizers include – Smoked walleye dip, pheasant egg rolls, pheasant poppers, coconut shrimp, and lamb chislic.

After supper, hunters can do whatever they please. We have multiple TV’s, pool table, big buck hunter – safari, and a stocked bar. Also, the Ramona bar is 57 steps from our back door(We’ve counted, and double checked).

  • Multiple layers of clothing
  • Comfortable clothes and slippers for lounging
  • Gloves thick enough to keep you warm
  • Baseball cap / Stocking cap (we have hats for purchase)
  • At least a box of premium shotshells for each day of the hunt. (4, 5, or 6 shot)

What Do Our Hunter's Have to Say?

5-star review

I had the pleasure of joining a guided pheasant hunt with Sportsman’s Outpost in Ramona, SD, and I couldn’t be more impressed. Brandon and his crew run a top-notch operation, ensuring everything is well-organized and seamless. Our guides, Brandon and Tyler, along with their highly skilled dogs, delivered three unforgettable days of hunting, consistently putting us on birds.

The experience was elevated by Todd, who prepared three outstanding hot meals each day—his cooking alone is worth the trip! The accommodations at the lodge were perfect—comfortable, clean, and thoughtfully arranged.

This was an exceptional experience from start to finish, and I’m already looking forward to my next trip. Highly recommend Sportsman’s Outpost.

One of the best experiences of my life. From the food, to the hunting, to the fellowship. Experienced guides who put you on the birds and will educate you as much as you request. Highly highly recommend

If you’re thinking about a guided hunt in this area, use this crew. Brandon and Tyler were great guides with stellar labs. We shot our limit of birds in only a few hours every day. Accommodations were nice, and the chef, Todd, makes some of the best meals we’ve ever had.
